Ass.-Prof. Mag. Dr.iur. Emma Lantschner

I am Emma Lantschner, an associate professor at the Centre for Southeast European Studies (CSEES) at the University of Graz. I have a legal background and bring in a political science perspective on my research which deals with the protection of human rights and national minorities, with a focus on the right to equality and non-discrimination. Before joining the Centre I worked as a researcher at the Institute for Minority Rights at EURAC Research. I was involved in the drafting of two sets of Recommendations of the OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities, and served as an expert on minority issues for the Council of Europe (in Kosovo) and the European Commission (in Serbia). I am a member of the Council of Europe’s Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities. My current research focuses on the transposition and enforcement of the EU non-discrimination regime in the EU and the (potential) candidate countries.
